We raise 4.9 bees, also called natural or small cell bees. They are the size nature intended and therefore have less problems with mites. We choose to manage our hives without any pesticides or synthetic chemicals, using only natural oils, sugar shakes and hydrated lime to manage disease, hive beetles, and mites.  We currently have seven hives, but hope to expand in the coming years. There is nothing like the taste of your own raw honey, and you appreciate it even more when you realize how hard the bees have to work to make it. For more information about 4.9 bees click here.
